The House of Luhuvilo is a charity set up to provide safety and life-giving futures for street children in Tanzania. The House of Luhuvilo, which means HOPE, is to be built in the mountains of Sayuni in Njombe, Tanzania. The land is given to us by the Convent of St Mary. There is an existing farm and medical centre.
Our Vision is to create a beautiful home for children. Three cottages housing 16-24 children orphaned under the age of 11 and a specialist centre for street children over the age of 11 providing counselling, education and life skills before placing teenagers in safe families and educational/vocational opportunities.
Luhuvilo is Kibeni for the word hope. The tree has been used throughout the centuries as a symbol of life and knowledge.
Our logo represents the orphanage as a home of sanctuary for children, little souls that need life and knowledge to grow.
Lord, I pray for The House of Luhuvilo. May it be place of sanctuary and love. May children’s dreams be renewed through nurture, education and belonging. I lift to you all vulnerable, lost children and pray that they find safety and comfort and grow into children of hope and faith.
In Jesus name.
Amen.
