We are aware of the history of child abuse in children’s homes and have put into place strict guidelines and protocols to ensure that every step possible will be taken to protect our children and help them heal from the traumas of their past.
To this end we are training 3 Sisters in child care from the convent where the home is to be built. These sisters will have a little family of children to care for, supported by novice nuns.
Social Services request that every child is placed in Foster care by the age of 14. To ensure the continuing safety of the children we are also training a Sister to become a Welfare Sister, who will be the Home’s link and overseer of children placed in Foster care.
As Director and Trustees we aim to visit three times a year and live at The House of Luhuvilo for months at a time. We will work closely with Social Welfare and the Diocese. We are working with Bishop Matthew and the Dioceses of South West Tanganylika(DSWT) in all matters to ensure due diligence and care is taken to safeguard the children.
