We are aware of the history of child abuse in children’s homes and have put into place strict guidelines and protocols to ensure that every step possible will be taken to protect our children and help them heal from the traumas of their past.
To this end the orphanage will be under total management of the convent, with female staff for all roles from gardener to manager. We have trained 2 Sisters in childcare: Sister Vumilla and Sister Merina. These sisters will have a little family of children to care for, supported by novice nuns.
To ensure the continuing safety of the children we are also training a Sister to become a Welfare Sister.
As Director and Trustees we aim to visit three times a year and live at The House of Luhuvilo for months at a time. We will work closely with Social Welfare and the Diocese. We are working with Mother Superior. Sr. Angelina, Bishop Matthew and the Dioceses of South West Tanganylika(DSWT) in all matters to ensure due diligence and care is taken to safeguard the children.
